September 2nd

Went to Manitoulin for a few days in mid-August – lots of rain but managed to enjoy great food with Mark and Judy and also a visit with Aunt Nola and cousin Lynn.

Squirrel was in the “Olacke’s” – southern Ontario – squirrel proof bird feeder. The field of canola was leaving Providence Bay.

July and the beginning of August were mostly wet and cool. A LOT OF HUMIDITY. But I walked most days and got quite a few good pictures.

Scenes from Harrisson Park in Owen Sound – we went up for Penny and Bill’s wedding. I enjoyed 2 walks in the park and Garnet got to relax and have a pipe – Saturday afternoon and late Sunbday morning.

July 12, 2014

June and so far in July have been much warmer but also very humid here in Guelph. I continue to try and walk on a daily basis – I walk slowly but I spend between 1 and a half to 2 hours walking so that helps hopefully. Osteoarthritis was bad on days of 100% humidity but I try and walk through that. The PMR is well controlled with my new meds. I do get caught in rain showers as they are so unpredictable but I now carry a poncho so that helps. I did catch a does of bronchitis in mid June – no walking for a week – but slowly it went away. This week coming spending time at a cottage with `the group of 7` – friends from Ottawa. Then a friend is getting married in Owen Sound.

On to some of my favorite pics from the pass couple of months.
They are in random order – will try and group them….

May 21st Guelph, Ontario

Spring has been slow coming – this pic was taken on the morning of April 15th….. ugly stuff.

But into May has been better although we have gotten a lot of rain. I have been doing my walking on the warmer days. Mostly I walk at two of our city parks – Riverside and Silvercreek -both (I believe) are on the Speed River – I should get down to the park off York Road sometime – its on the Eramosa River.

Pics our from both parks.

April 5 – home –

We returned home on the 2nd after a really long day – stayed in Terre Haute, Indiana on the night of the first and with bad weather following us we decided to drive home from there 958 km later arrived in Guelph. Winter is still here…. some brown grass but also snow in the shady spots (lots of it) and cold and windy….. not nice we want spring.

The highlight of the trip home – for me anyway – was the stop in Memphis – I spent a full afternoon at Graceland. The Mansion audio tour was fantastic , the auto museum is fabulous and the 2 airplane tours are

March 28th – leaving MIssion tomorrow

Last 2 weeks in Mission weather was warm to hot but we also had quite a few cloudy, muggy, humid days…. c’est la vie. We decided to Leave on Saturday the 29th in order to drive through Houston on Sunday morning so it would be easier. Monday afternoon will be at Graceland for me.

Did Llasso State Park , Santa Ana Refuge a couple of times, The Wetlands and the Butterfly Center – also Anzalduas Park and FINALLY they filled the ditch so I walked the levee quite a few times.

March 15th

Last week-end and on Monday – dreary wet weather. Than Tuesday was hot and very humid – went to Edinburg Wetlands. Wednesday was very windy but mostly sunny so went to Santa Ana and spent lots of time watching a White Tailed Kite – – the wind was so strong he was able to hover. Lots of Black Vultures playing in the wind.

Thursday cooler only 22C (I know that’s hot for most of us) but way less wind – spent a couple of hours at the Anzalduas Dam Park. Bluebirds, Vermillion Flycatcher, Kingbirds and Woodpeckers among others – wonderful.

Friday was warm and got quite windy but did a walk at the butterfly centre after breakie. Good walk, great butterflies and birds.
