We made a short trip to Manitoulin Island September 26 to September 30th. The weather was fabulous, sunshine and heat the whole time except for Sunday morning but cleared in the afternoon.
Pictures tell the story. I’ll put some captions as needed.
Salmon were going upriver to spawn. We checked Providence Bay first – there were a few big ones then we drove out to Kagawong. Judy, Mark and I walked up the trail by the river up to the Bridal Veil Falls. Fabulous. Quite a few salmon in the river struggling upstream – lots below the Falls.
All those black spots in the pool at the bottom of the Falls are salmon – poor things.
Saw deer near Spring Bay one evening as well as a field of Canada Geese.
The guys went fishing – had a fantastic fried perch supper.
Some shots of color here and there. Little lighthouse at South Bay Mouth – taken while waiting for the ferry.
Tracked down a few sandhill cranes….
AND of course it isn’t a Marie Blog if there aren’t lots of bird pics. Very proud of the Bluebird pics and the brown creeper.
With luck and good wi-fi the next blog entry will be from Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania as we head there for 10 days of safari in the southern section of Tanzania…… A trip of a lifetime ….
